School Development Plan 2024-25
This is a summary of the key areas we are focusing on in 2024-25.
Quality of Education
- To ensure the quality of education is good or better in all departments, subjects and classrooms
- To ensure consistent high-quality practice in every lesson with a focus on embedding inclusive and ambitious questioning, whole class and live feedback and enabling literacy development.
- To ensure consistency in using assessments to re-teach misconceptions or gaps and ensure pupils have the tools to revise.
- To ensure consistent practice for all pupils in every lesson, ensuring teaching is adapted to support all our learners in every lesson.
- To ensure all learners commit to exemplary work and presentation in their books/work
- To ensure more consistent Key Stage 4 and 5 outcomes within and across departments with a focus on Science and Computing.
- To ensure consistency of practice within any supply or cover lessons.
- To implement a new framework for assessment at Key Stage 3 to ensure a consistent experience for pupils and parents.
- To ensure consistency of data and predicted grades by developing robust data systems.
- To ensure consistent practice in teaching at Key Stage 5 using the quality assurance systems to focus in this area.
- To commit to the life chances of each of our children with an unwavering ambition for the outcomes of our disadvantaged and SEND pupils.
BAPD

To ensure the Behaviour Policy becomes fully embedded and consistency from all staff, as well as a commitment to a positive approach to behaviour management, leading to equitable experiences for all

To embed the new Attendance policy to ensure timely support and challenge and higher attendance/reduced PA for all key groups

To ensure wider programmes (from mental health support to character education to pupil leadership) lead to an improved positive culture across the school pupils
- To ensure greater consistency in KPIs for behaviour and attendance for our disadvantaged and SEND pupils.
- To develop impactful systems within school, such as well-being room and AP, to ensure the above.
- To ensure a commitment to understanding behaviour and using positive approaches, as well as managing behaviour consistently, with a focus on disadvantaged and SEND pupils.
- To ensure all pupils have consistent access to mental health support, both general and bespoke
- To ensure a consistent and responsive personal development programme for all pupils which generates positive feedback.
- To ensure meaningful leadership opportunities are consistently taken up by all key groups and impact the school community.
- To embed consistent character education ensuring a positive impact on the school community.
Leadership and Management

To ensure a focus on embedding the changes of the last two years robustly and introducing no more initiatives in 24-25
- To ensure greater team work across departments and better systems lead to improved staff satisfaction, well-being and attendance
- To commit to introducing no new initiatives in 24-25 (unless directed).
- To commit to the Well-Being Policy and active dialogue and ensure staff recognise the benefits of working at Wanstead High.
- To ensure greater consistency in staff attendance, ensuring staff are supported when necessary.
- To ensure a continuing commitment to excellent appraisal and HR systems that have an impact on the development and well-being of staff.
- To develop stronger and consistent teams in all areas of the school that support growth, development and well-being, backed up by strong line management and appraisal.
- To commit to the best quality communication at all levels for stakeholders underpinned by a new website.
- To ensure consistent, high-functioning systems that support staff in doing their jobs effectively and without stress.
