Dear Families,

Due to the forecast of extreme heat, and after carefully risk assessing the event, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our 2026 Sports Day. Whilst we have not made any other decisions about school next week at this stage, we thought it was best to give early warning of this.

We know this will be disappointing for pupils who were looking forward to the event, as well as for the staff who have worked so hard to prepare for the day. However, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff must remain our priority.

We are determined for Sports Day to still take place and are currently exploring alternative dates in September. We will share further information with you as soon as arrangements have been confirmed, and we will consider the timing of Sports Day in future years as the climate gets hotter.

Risk assessments continue to take place for the next 2 weeks and further information will follow. We will continue to re-room classes as appropriate but are unlikely to make changes to the school day unless extreme weather warnings are in place. The current uniform amendments will be in place until the end of term. Please can we stress that if PE kit is worn, it has to be the correct school kit and/or if pupils choose to wear skirts without tights, they must reach the knees.
