A core subject at GCSE, all students have mathematics classes from years 7-11.
Students are divided into sets according to their KS2 and KS3 results. The most able students will aim to take the higher tier exam at GCSE.
Post 16 we offer AS and A Level in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Students in the Sixth Form who have not achieved grade C at GCSE are encouraged to re-sit this exam.
How you can help
Encourage your child to try logic and number based puzzles, or to use maths websites designed to encourage the development of mathematical skills such as BBC Bitesize. Check that your child completes their homework regularly, ask them about the work they are doing and talk about what they have learned in their maths lessons. Also encourage them to attend the maths homework club each Thursday 3.30-4.30pm in room MA4.
